NIGERIAN CURIOSITY'S PERSON OF 2007

Sunday, January 13, 2008

The race is on to announce Nigerian Curiosity's Person of 2007. Who would you recommend as the Person of 2007? A villain? A dreamer? An activist? It doesn't matter who he or she is as long as (s)he is Nigerian and has arguably had an impact on Nigeria and Nigerians.

I have a few people in mind, but want to know what you think.

Get curious.

Hattip to Ijebuman, whose Ijebuman's 2007 Awards convinced me that it is not too late to do this.

Wow, i've never been the first on here (i've never really understood the fuss/excitement around this, but now i see that it's a nice feeling, but the pressure...)
Person of the Year i'd say is Patricia Etteh for proving to us that Nigerians have the power to force leaders to be accountable for their (in)actions. Now, we just have to keep that momentum going.

I'm nominating..... Olu Maintain. Based solely on Yahooze. It's stuck in my head. :)

Let me think and come back...
But mind you it will never be Etteh! and it has nothing to do with her being a hair dresser.

I nominate Maurice Iwu & INEC, they had the biggest impact on Naija in 2007.

Please give it up for the 'Average Nigerian'.

Bruised, battered and robbed of his rights several times over, he still managed to survive 2007 with head held high.

Let's hear it for the 'Common Man', abeg.

Yardua & and his partner-in-crime OBJ!

Has to be Ms. Etteh!!

I think I am with nigeria politricks. It has to OBJ and Yardy. OBJ increased fuel just he was leaving so that Yardy would reduce it and Nigerians will say he achieved something in his first 100 days.

From the little I know, I'd say its a tie between 'The Average Nigerian' for putting up with the politics of corruption for all these years & 'Ribadu' for taking, what seems to be very bold, actions to curb corruption.

I am nominating OBJ. For good or for bad, he chose for us, Nigeria's president for the next 4 (or 8 years). "Bad belle" aside, I can't think of any one with a greater impact on the present and the future.

My person of the year is definately Patricia Etteh. A rude reminder that it is no longer business as usual for all the thiefing politicians.

wow!!first of all, i cant believe you are a female- as in the name!!but i must say this if i have not before- love love love your writing style- to the point!I like- with regards to Yahoozee- err, nah!!what kind of...?its a mad jam and i played the song silly over the summer but should he really be noted as an international spokesperson for nigeria- highlighting one of the 'great' things about nigeria?- as catherine tate would say 'don fink soow' what about Buhari or Awoniyi?
